5 Career Tips from Arianna Huffington

5 Career Tips from Arianna Huffington 5 Career Tips from Arianna Huffington As founder of the popular site The  Huffington Post and now founder and CEO of Thrive Global, it’s no wonder that Arianna Huffington has become an inspiration to entrepreneurs around the world. And as many business leaders in the 21st century, Arianna has used her platforms to also advocate for health- the importance of sleep in particular. In a recent interview with Jess Barron of Livestrong, Arianna outlined several tips she deemed pertinent to achieving success: 1.  Be Unflappable She urges workers to “be in the eye of the hurricane” as much as they can and instead of growing a thick skin, to listen to what is around you.  There will always be criticism, but listening to criticism is valuable. If it’s criticism you can’t learn from, then stay on your course so you can achieve what you’ve got in mind. 2.  Put Your Own Oxygen Mask on First Focus on not always putting those around you first, because then you can get left behind. Don’t run on empty, because it will diminish your ability to be successful. If you are taken care of, then you will have more energy to give to the things that matter (work, family, friends, etc.).   3.  Unplug When You’re on Vacation Don’t stay up with work while on vacation. Write a good out-of-office email, indicating who to contact if the email is an emergency. By knowing that all of the urgent emails are taken care of, it helps you relax and recharge. Being always “on” is not going to help anyone, especially you. 4.  Take Care of Yourself For Arianna, getting a full night’s sleep and exercising enables her to be more creative in her workday. By prioritizing your wellbeing, you’re going to place the best bets on yourself. She quotes Rumi as an inspiration to “live life as if everything is rigged in your favor” because if you have a positive outlook on circumstances, then it’s most likely that good things are always around the corner. 5.  Make Time to Read In addition to having written 15 books herself, Arianna advises reading to keep your brain active and constantly learning. She’s currently reading “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius, which focuses on weathering storms and still remaining steadfast in who you are, her advice is to pick up works that will inspire and motivate you.   Watch the full interview below!
